Bilqees Hassen is a 20-something year old medical student who also happens to be a young Indian girl. She writes stories about other Indian girls to help her cope with the stress of pharmacology and her mean doctor lecturers. She has published a short novel Freedom in Faith in 2022. Her inspiration for Samoosas & Sundays was to write a relatable book about any young adult trying to navigate life in their twenties (and to make the epidemic of nosy Indian aunties who ask too many questions more well known). When she’s not crying over her studies or writing stories, she bakes brownies (not pot ones although she has pharmacy friends who can hook her up) and she works out to avoid getting fat from the brownies. She also enjoys watching Indian movies and daydreaming about unrealistic scenarios. She currently lives with her family in Pretoria, South Africa. You can connect with her here.
